5PREVIEW
It pains me slightly, but I have to admit my wadrobe is mainly black white and navy blue. Although these have been considered staples for many years I tend to feel limited when I chose what I'm going to wear in the morning. I suppose you could blame my impatience in shops or the fact that I'm lazy and don't like trying things but at the end of the day, I just don't wear colours.
But luckily for me (after many hours of scouring the internet) I have found a solution! 5Preview - this label has re-kindled my love for the monocrome style - I managed to ask a few questions to the Managing director at 5preview from the lovely Emeli MÃ¥rtensson which she very kindly replied to :
How did you get involved with designing clothes?
I studied industrial design but found it to stiff. You buy a chair and then you have it for the rest of your life. It's funnier with clothes that you change all the time! I got a job at Miss Sixty as print-designer and I stayed there for 5 years, learning a lot by working.
Have you always felt passionately about fashion?
Not at all, not even now.
When did you realise that this is what you wanted to become your job?
When I realized that this IS my job, if I wanted it or not! Like 3 years ago, when I moved back to Sweden from New York to focus on 5PREVIEW.
What inspired your latest collection?
It's SS13 and it's called “KIND OF BLUES” and I basically got inspired by all different tones of blue, from really worn out washed out denim til dark blue indigo...
Which market do you try and reach out to?
Now we're expanding in Spain, the UK, Russia and the US. Our best markets now are Italy, Germany, Japan and Denmark..
Do you believe that there is a lot of unhealthy competition in the fashion industry?
Not competition but a lot of non capable persons that think they're designers because they went to a fashion school for 3 years or because they like to do shopping. This is a hard job, not really creative most of the time.
Finally, Do you think that there is a lot of market for bigger ladies in the designer world?
Of course, everybody needs clothes, right? Just because someone has some extra kilos they're not walking around naked...But the clothes usually fits skinnier persons, for lookbooks and catwalks etc. IRL it's different, we do a lot of oversize pieces and unisex pieces that looks good on everyone!
Intresting huh? I do really love this brand and can't wait to hear more about them in the future! 10/10 B.x
Also have a look at their blog - it's really cool

Current faves..
Taken from Charlotte Taylor's S/S11 collection |
Another thing I'm loving at the mo is Ireland's answer to the midnight beast, the rubberbandits. With their childish humor and over the top accents, I could watch their videos over and over again. So if you get the chance - have a look at their youtube channel and watch their other videos - I guarantee laughs. Have a great week all of you! B.x

Three cheers for the so called fashion icon.
She stunned the world with her garish leotards back in 2008 and has continuously shocked us again and again after that and the finally, gaining the fashion icon title. I personally disagree, in my eyes she's just doing what has always been done (the freaky-beautiful thing -that is sooooo pretentious) but she does deserve kudos for her ability to leap from unknown to superstar in a few months, but do we blame her musical talents for this dramatic increase of her wild style? It's a hard one to debate isn't it? Especially considering that she has a massive fan base who would do almost anything to see her walk past them in the supermarket. Of course she can sing, but it's nothing we haven't heard before so what's really keeping her in the spotlight? I mean she's not that amazing, all her songs sound the same as your everyday generic pop-star songs do. So, you could put it down to good luck and determination but that doesn't exist in the music industry anymore. Lady gaga is just a woman with a desperation to be recognised. Oh the bore that chart music is.... B.x

hipsterphobic.
\hip-stur\n.
One who possesses tastes, social attitudes, and opinions deemed cool by the cool. (Note: it is no longer recommended that one use the term "cool"; a Hipster would instead say "deck.") The Hipster walks among the masses in daily life but is not a part of them and shuns or reduces to kitsch anything held dear by the mainstream. A Hipster ideally possesses no more than 2% body fat.
I like to consider myself someone who doesn't care what you wear or what music you listen to, but when it comes to hipsters a little piece of me dies every time someone puts a photo of themselves on instagram in an american apparel hoodie and creepers. I suppose you could put this down to the fact that your everyday hipster and I have many similarities, I love nirvana, I think that Indian prints are lovely and I'm a thrift store junkie. So I've come to a conclusion, I don't like hipsters because they've categorised me into something I didn't even ask to become, I almost feel as though I can't enjoy a nice cardi without being told I'm following a crowd, therefore I always find myself justifying my decision to have a duffle bag or a pair of docs which is essentially similar to homophobia or racism (you know - discriminating someone because of who they are - but way way worse than being taken the piss out of because you're hipster). So, for all you people out there that like supreme or have a tumblr - I'm sorry for being a hipsterphobe & I'll try and change. B.x
