my dad.

This man I'm about to write about, I know more about him than anyone else in the world. I may not see him everyday or do everything with him but - you'll have to take my word for it.

Fabrice Marie-Andre Monnier - born May 20th 1969 - Morbihan, Brittany. Born into a working class family in rural france (serent, la touche morgan) Fabrice spent his childhood playing cowboys&indians with his cousins/brothers/friends. Being the middle child of three - he usually hung out with his cousin Thierry who would eventually move in with him aged 12.

During his teenage years, Fabrice grew out of playing cowboys and indians and became bored of the little village he was living in. Using music as an escapism Fabrice became interested in indie/punk rock/alternative music, attending such gigs as The Jesus and Mary Chain; Pink Floyd; Nirvana etc.

After completing his secondary education Fabrice moved to the capital of Brittany - Rennes to study History. He joined a band and played bass, went to digs and then met my mum. After meeting my mum (who's 6 years older - what a cougar) he moved in with her and my older sister into their studio flat in Peckham,London.
Miles away from home, Fabrice tried his hardest to learn English and get jobs starting off as a waiter in a restaurant, he recalls his first day ending in tears. Literally. Eventually Fabrice settled on being a teacher, meanwhile his first child was born, me.

You can probably guess I was an accident, my parents had only been together for a couple of years when I was born, I was told that my mum had thought about splitting up with him before I was born and even considered not telling him that she was pregnant. I try not to remember that part because it's kinda grim. They managed to stay together till I was about 3/4 I have no idea how.
Fabrice stayed on a few years in London, then lived in Paris for 6 months with his designer girlfriend (what a cliche!) then moved back to London again and met his current partner. He then moved with her back to Rome she became pregnant when I was five. I'm not going to lie, I hate him for doing that but that brought my little sister into the world and I can't thank the mystical powers that be for her irritating tendencies and adorable self. Still, I hate the fact he lives in Rome. Selfish bastard that  I love.

You're probably wondering about the DM's at the top (I doubt you are really - I just have to bring it up), well this is where fashion & things like that come in. The Doc's at the top are my dads and they're his favorite item of clothing because he can wear them everywhere with everything. Especially his motorbike. Doc's have been in and out of fashion since 1945, most recently big in the hipster world. I got my first pair when I was about 8 and I loved them. I love Doc's they're the bomb. 10/10

CORRIE NIELSEN.

Corrie Nielsen- S/S12

Being what I would call a controversial designer, Corrie Nielsen has been gracing us with her collection since S/S11. Mixing Sharp cuts and metallics her S/S12 collection is inspired by Oscar wild, late 19th century men's tailored dress and contemporary Japanese aesthetic, creating a fusion between dress and serenity.

Her previous A/W11 collection is possibly my favorite. The range of evening wear is full of edges and shoulders pads crushing the regular pretty and sweet style that we see everywhere these days, Exactly what I love to see on the catwalk. Her current collection brings a fresh eye to the trends that appeared in fashion week last year, Still using the athletic silhouette as seen in Burberrys collection as well. I give Corrie Nielsen 7/10. B.x

"What makes me get dressed in the morning is that I know I will put another piece in my fashion jigsaw.."

Cardigan - Urban Outfitters - Renewal
Tshirt - fiftyfifty
Leggings - Warehouse
Shoes - Vans - Schuh
Blessed with a loving glamour-nana, Emily-May Davis from Bristol expresses herself through her attire. Already having various designer pieces under her belt before she's even reached adult-hood Emily is all set for a career in the fashion industry. Here's the interview.

Why do you get dressed in the morning?
On a morning I can get quite excited as I usually have a different thing to try out. So what makes me get dressed in the morning is that I know I will put another piece in my fashion jigsaw.

What inspires you to dress the way you do?
A lot of celebrities inspire me to dress the way I do.
At the moment, I really love Lady Gaga's naughty Italian American look because you can make it really glam (red lips, rolled hair & big leopard print coat.) Or you can make it casual (leggins, denim jacket and a bandanna)
Another inspiration is Carlotta a really good friend of mine who can look gorgeous and casual with the tiniest bit of effort. (Lucky b*tch!)
But my main inspiration is my grandmother with her gorgeous mulberry 'Alexa' handbag and her red retro glasses. So I take a lot of tips from her and obviously the mulberry hand-me-downs.

Does your mood affect your dress sense?
Yes definitely, the itallian american comes out when my self esteem is high and I feel dominant. When my confidence isn't as high I love baggy, bold t-shirts with leggings. My style really varies day to day.

Do you reckon your pass times/hobbies change the way you dress?
Yes most of what I do is either read through vogue and fashion blogs or be in the city centre of bristol where there are all different kinds of styles that all intrigue me and make me want to try out new things

Do family and friends help/keep an interest in what you wear?
My mother and my Grandmother have always supported me with what I want to wear and given me a lot of freedom to do so but still being there to help with fashion mishaps.

So, There you have it. Style through the eyes of a young fashioinista! Her respect towards fashion is quite astonishing for someone her age. Although it may seem unbelievable to some, this exposure to fashion and dressing well changes nothing about her personality. She's just your everyday teenager, but with a nicer wardrobe.

Thankyou Emily - it's been a pleasure x

Nadinoo - www.nadinoo.com

Nadinoo is an independent label making her first collection in 2009. I suppose what I really like about Nadinoo is the names given to each of the items of clothing, The names are based around three names 'Pixie,Fleur & Lula', each of these names have different attitudes which are depicted through every pattern and cut. For instance, the dress above is my favorite out of the current line. This dress is one of 'Fleur's' dresses which like many others under this name, is quite dark, yet it maintains the pretty-ness of a floral summer dress (You have to remember this is the A/W collection - so they're not really designing summer dresses), whereas if you look at 'Lula's' dresses you'll notice that they are of a much more confident nature compared to the others.

The background for Nadinoo is (in my eyes) quite compelling. Nadia Izruna (the designer), created her first collection from one of her paychecks without any outside outside investors. This freedom that she has almost proves that you can start something big from very little, it also provides me with nothing to criticize. Unfortunately (on my behalf). I am very new to Nadinoo but from what I can see her designs are very  pretty/playful and I hope to be seeing more from her in the future. 8/10. B.x

Rose Debois - Paris - also sold in - Italy - Japan - Korea - Spain - Switzerland

When I decided to write about this designer from a small rural village in Brittany in the north west of France, I believed it would be easy, but as I sit here to write it now, it's much harder than I thought. I was exposed to fashion at a very young age and I suppose the first time it happened was when I went in to the office aged 3/4 (just before Pink Debois became Rose Debois) . At that time things in my personal life weren't going very well, so I had the potential to be horrible, but I look back on that time in Paris with good memories. I can remember being given two pairs of pyjama's from Chrystelle around christmas (or it could have been my birthday - it's all very vague because I was so little) and then being so annoyed when they didn't fit any more, but found use for them on my teddy-bears.

Anyway - must stop reminiscing and get to business..

The reason why I love this mark so much is it's ability to make someone my age be jealous of a child's wardrobe, so you wouldn't believe how excited I was when I found out that they were releasing a mini-line of five women dresses in the new year. I adore the inspiration from magazines, art and 60's fashion that we see in each and every line of clothing released. But what I really love about each collection is it's original perspective on vintage fashion, rather than sticking to the everyday look you might find in any other shop it offers the type of family-wear look that is more retro than any other mini-dress or twiggy haircut. I really love Rose Debois and everyrthing about it. 10/10. B.x

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!! MAY THIS YEAR BRING JOY AND HEALTH FOR YOU ALL. B.x
